Last season at the Met while watching Jose Manuel Carreno take his bows before the roaring audience after performing the Manon Pas de Deux, Haglund thought that J.M. seemed more emotional than usual – his appreciation toward the audience enormous but tinged with just a bit of sadness. At that moment, Haglund was reminded that this magnificent performer was nearing the end of this chapter of his career. Now he's confirmed that he will retire from ABT in July.
