Yes! They looked great in this when I saw them last year (or was I just so excited to see Carmen Corella again?).

Another great piece of rep neglected by ABT, and this one is big enough to fill the Met stage. Thank god for Angel...

Amen.

I hope that this injury which Angel apparently suffered in Japan will not be a recurring annoyance. Perhaps if ABT had kept him dancing all summer with a full plate of performances, this injury might not have occurred.

Thanks for the link. I suspect this is a fiendishly, difficult piece needing a big stage, four distinct principal couples, an accomplished corps, and a really good violinist, the last being a particular problem for ABT, apparently.

This company looks good here. I would also love to see the Cubans do this. I really like those Cubans.

Hi dc. Yep, the Cubans would give Tippet's Bruch a real charge. Also, today's NYCB would devour the choreography and look fantastic in it. I don't think that the NYCB repertory has much Bruch music in it; so, it might be a refreshing addition now that the company is out shopping for existing works (e.g. Wheeldon's DGV). If ABT isn't going to give Tippet's work the audience it deserves, maybe NYCB should.

The performance filmed in this clip was from January 2008 at the Tivoli theater in Barcelona. It is also where I filmed several times for my documentary on the company's creation. But the excerpts of "Bruch..." shown in my trailer were filmed at the ccmpany's very first debut at the palace of La Granja outside Segovia in July 2008.

Bruch seems to fit them so well, don't you think? I see that they are performing it at SUNY Purchase on April 21st, which happens to be my birthday, so I'll have to investigate how difficult transportation is from NYC to Purchase. Of course, I'd rather see them do it at Lincoln Center. Maybe someday.

Yes, they dance it extremely well; much tighter than ABT does. And speaking of DGV, Corella Ballet was also the first company, other than the Royal Ballet, to perform it. (But no mention of that in NYCB's promos.) PS. I messed up in my post above, the YTube clip was filmed in Jan.2009. I'm the only one to film them in 2008.
