Julio Bocca has hired ABT's Maria Riccetto to star in his company's full length production of Le Corsaire. El Ballet Nacional del Sodre will present El Corsario at the Auditorio Nacional Adela Reta in Montevideo, Uruguay from September 30 through October 11. José Martin of The Royal Ballet and Avetik Karapetyan of The Royal Swedish Ballet will also perform. Tickets go on sale this Monday.
When will the ABT soloists get the respect that they deserve from their home company? Maybe when Julio Bocca becomes Artistic Director. Let us pray.
That is an awesome thought!

You don't need to ask me twice. Some in-house promotions are sorely needed. Wouldn't it do wonders for morale?

In-house (earned) promotions would be a good start: 3 women to principal, 3 men to principal, and at least 6 new soloists. That would be a start. The morale there must be pretty awful.

Hey, what about making a DVD, Julio?!

Wouldn't that be fabulous?!

It's nice to know the recent male principals at ABT have such good taste in the care and feeding of ABT's soloists!
If only the less recent had similar views...

Sigh . . . agree.
The imposed stagnation is suffocating.
