New York City Ballet's Chairman of the Board, Jay Fishman, died today from ALS - "Lou Gehrig's Disease." He was 63. At the company's Spring Gala last May, Fishman was honored for his leadership and support. A widely respected executive and until recently the CEO of The Travelers Companies, he was named by Forbes Magazine as Wall Street's Honest Man.
Last November, Fishman appeared on a segment of Charlie Rose to candidly discuss his fatal disease and how he was able to maintain a positive course for his life in spite of it. It's a good interview.
