Oh Heavenly Father, grant me the ire to complain about what I cannot change, enough wrath to hold a grudge forever, and indignation that is uncontainable. Amen.
And so, ABT has filled in a little more casting for the 2010 Met season. Our guy, Radetsky, will join Hee Seo in the Thais PdD. He has been traipsing around the globe these past couple of months supporting ABT’s principal ballerinas – Herrera in the DonQ PdD in Singapore, Kent in Sugar Plum and Cavalier in Texas, Murphy in Sugar Plum and Cavalier in North Carolina – but the company cannot even officially load him back onto the website. Show some respect – and give him the principal roles he deserves.
Of course, Squints has been slotted for more undeserved opportunities so that he can stock enough mediocre performances in leading roles to give McKenzie an excuse to principal him over better dancers.
Osipova is now dancing Don Q wherever Jose Manuel Carreno is. Does this pairing make sense to anyone? While Osipova may have a world class Don Q, would she ever have been able to swipe the other training & development performances (Romeo and Juliet, Sleeping Beauty) out from under Company dancers without her A-Rat connection? Thinks not. Is the Bolshoi offering any of the ABT soloists training & development performance opportunities? Thinks not.
The Brahms-Haydn has been shuffled so that now Hee Seo is paired with Gennadi Saveliev, Veronika Part is paired with David Hallberg, and Stella Abrera is paired with Alexandre Hammoudi. Nothing to complain about here.
Haglund wants an excuse to go to Chicago in April for a matinee, and he wants that excuse to be an Abrera/Radetsky debut in Swan Lake. McKenzie has several months to put this together. If he thinks he doesn’t have time, send them off to the Bolshoi. Surely Burlaka would be willing to reciprocate for all the resources being spent here on Osipova development.
Get it scheduled.
Find the answer.
Make it happen.
Get it done.
Then, let’s see it all in New York in June.
