ABT has uploaded casting changes that are going to make some Chicago fans unhappy. It appears that Roberto Bolle will not be performing. For those who were feverishly buying tickets to see Max and Irina at Sunday's matinee, as it appears you were, you may wish to reassess your plans as they are now dancing Saturday evening. And for those who were feverishly buying tickets to see Ms. Part on Saturday night, as it appears you were, you may wish to reassess your plans as she is now dancing Sunday evening. Here's the update:
Thursday evening
Herrera & Stiefel
Friday matinee
Wiles & Stearns
Kent & Gomes
Saturday matinee
Murphy & Carreno
Saturday night
Dvorovenko & Beloserkovsky
Sunday matinee
Wiles and Stearns
Sunday evening
Part & Gomes
The Sunday matinee that was originally Max and Irina was selling wildly whereas the Sunday evening performance that was originally Wiles and Stearns was selling dismally. Now ABT has pulled the switcheroo to pump the sales for Sunday evening while undoubtedly disappointing those who already bought Sunday matinee tickets to see Max and Irina but are now going to be served up Wiles & Stearns. When they pull these switcheroos at the Met in New York, it results in a lot of bad blood between them and their core audience. Haglund hopes that they quickly move Part & Gomes to the Sunday matinee that was selling so well when Max & Irina were scheduled. Or, of course, bring in Hallberg to replace Bolle and leave things as they were.
What a mistake to pull this kind of stuff on the Chicago audience.
