According to The Wall Street Journal today, the rep for ABT's November performances at Alicia Alonso's International Ballet Festival of Havana has been set as Theme and Variations, Seven Sonatas and Fancy Free. Can't imagine how crazy the Cubans will go when they see their sailor do the rumba or when they are reminded that Alicia was the ballerina for the premiere performance of Theme and Variations in 1947.
Haglund wonders if The New York Times will cover the trip or if they'll ignore it the way they ignored the Royal Ballet's historic trip to Cuba last year. That's okay — we can count on the BBC, ABC, WSJ, CBS, CNN, Washington Post, the Sacramento Bee and the rest of the world's important media to cover it.
i wonder if they will cover the ABT intensive finals tomorrow! at least that one is in new york, so no excuse not to cover it.
