I knew this was going to happen! ABT had better start working on their next generation of principals!

More likely, ABT will just continue to spend donors' money on tacky guest stars. It doesn't seem to have an artistic director who either appreciates or can develop the enormous talent that is withering in the soloist ranks. It is pathetic.

Haglund, I was wondering if you attended the farewell performance of Charles Askegard?

Unfortunately, I wasn't able to attend it. I have fond memories of Chuck when he was a skinny, gangly teenager trying to learn to point his feet in class in Minneapolis. It's been quite the privilege to follow his entire career in New York.

I was looking forward to your report of the performance! I'm jealous of you and other people who live in NYC, you ARE indeed able to follow the entire career of some of the best dancers in the world!

Yep, we're pretty lucky in that respect. Hope you can tune into the Guggenheim's live stream event either Sunday or Monday at 7:30 New York time for ABT's fall season premiere. See today's post.
