Primitive pleasure at the NYPhil

Last night the New York Philharmonic delivered a bold, bold performance of Stravinsky's The Rite of Spring.

On the podium, Alan Gilbert found the music's ritualistic fervor and eerie calms and at times hunched over with toes slightly pointed inward like a Nijinsky pagan. 

Haglund will never forget those early Joffrey Ballet performances when Beatriz Rodriguez as the Chosen One danced for her life.
