The gala re-opening of the refurbished Northrop Auditorium at the University of Minnesota in Minneapolis will include three performances of Giselle by ABT on April 4, 5, and 6. Tickets go on sale tomorrow. However, it would be wise to hold off buying tickets until casting is released. ABT has been so reckless these past few years with its Giselle casting that locals could end up with a homely viking in a horned helmet as Giselle or some granny who should have given up the role five years ago.
We in New York will keep our fingers crossed that ABT will somehow come to its senses and cast Stella Abrera in the title role that she was destined to dance. If that happens, you can bet that a lot of New Yorkers will quickly pack their long johns and their long monophthongal mid vowels and head up to the land of 10,000 lakes in the ole Gisellemobile.
I could never sound like Frances McDormand even if Stella were cast as Giselle. But I definitely would reserve a seat on the Gisellemobile.

Angelica, I think there may be room up front in the cab of the pickup with me and the cats.
