I saw the Sunday matinee performance, Haglund, and I couldn't agree more about both Stella and Alex. Beforehand, I was fearful for him and therefore for her, since the partnering is fiendishly difficult. But as it became apparent that not only was Stella dancing sublimely, but that Alex was totally on his game, I relaxed (with only a little nail-biting) into the performance and enjoyed every moment they were on stage, either singly or together. I was struck by the obvious chemistry between them, as well as the trust, which is so essential to accomplishing the wicked technical demands. Thankfully, we have another chance to see them together next Saturday, and I would urge everyone reading this not to let the opportunity go by.

Hi, Angelica. I will definitely be there on Saturday, too.

I forgot to mention in the review how tacky it was that ABT didn't give any flowers to Sarah at bows. This wasn't the first time that it has happened, either.

It's heartening to hear positive reports of Hammoudi, after the injuries, canceled performances, and less-than-stellar outings in the past couple years (Rothbart, Albrecht). I'm glad to hear there is still hope of him growing into these principal roles!

I'll be seeing the next Lane/Gorak Nutcracker this Friday, and I'm glad to hear there has been some partnering improvement. Maybe they will have settled into things by the end of this week.

Hi FOF.

Nutcracker Prince is one of Hammoudi's best roles along with his Bright Stream and On the Dneiper roles. See the connection?

If Ratmansky would take him under his wing for the new Sleeping Beauty (with Abrera), I'm sure that we would observe another big spurt of growth.

I think that the partnership of Sarah and Joe has improved tremendously. I'm not going to fault them or even be disappointed because they're not Vishneva and Gomes or Ferri and Bocca, all of whom had tremendous partnering skills in place before encountering the current artistic administration. Between them (that is, Joe & Sarah), they have un je ne sais quoi that Ratmansky recognized before anyone else. They could truly develop into something special - if allowed.

Hammoudi is also very good in Seven Sonatas! (Ratmansky, yet again)...

Yes, I forgot how lovely Gorak and Lane were in Ratmansky's Tempest. You're right that perhaps Ratmansky can bring out the best in them as a pair.
