And we're getting a fabulous mixed bill instead of the Don Q that the company is taking to Washington DC and Chicago, says NYT.
How perfect of the Royal Ballet, how considerate, and how completely understanding of them to come to Lincoln Center at precisely the perfect time so that we do not have to suffer through ABT's hideous week of Swan Lakes - (save 1-1/2 performances out of 8). Many of us could not be more happy nor more grateful.
Ashton's The Dream and MacMillan's Song of the Earth will comprise one program. McGregor's Infra, Scarlett's Age of Anxiety, and some Divertissements including the pas de deux from Wheeldon's Aeternum will be the second program.
Halleluja!
Do you think McKenzie will let Osipova appear with the Royal? I thought he had some type of non-compete that prohibited the dancers from appearing with other companies while dancing with ABT.

Your guess is as good as mine, Lisa. There are so many factors to consider not the least of which is whether her partner Hallberg is going to be ready to dance all of those performances. If she were to bail (or not) and then dance with the RB, effectively helping to gut ABT's Swan Lake Week, that wouldn't be so great for ABT. She is also dealing with an injury – as is Smirnova – so, who knows what will happen. The only thing we can be sure of is that ABT will continue to sell tickets while marketing these two names regardless of the the likelihood that they will actually appear.
