Wow. Just wow. It's going to be hard not to be thinking about this on Friday when Herman Cornejo and Sarah Lane dance together in Fokine's Le Spectre de la Rose.
If you're in the neighborhood of Posadas, Misiones Province in Argentina on November 19, 21, or 22, you will have the opportunity to see Herman and Sarah starring in the world premiere of a new production of Spartacus choreographed by Guido De Benedetti, a former dancer at the Ballet Estable del Teatro Colón and currently a director along with Oscar Araiz and Andrea Chinetti of the Escuela de Danza Contemporanea in Buenos Aires. The rest of the cast of 40 dancers will be drawn from the Ballet del Centro del Conocimiento.
De Benedetti will use the familiar musical score by Aram Khachaturian.
Herman previously danced in Misiones in productions of La Bayadere and Don Quixote but this will be the first time Sarah has danced there, and the local media is already excited. There is also some talk about the possibility of an outdoor performance of Spartacus on July 9th but nothing has been confirmed.
Any video clips would be greatly appreciated.
Haglund, this is exactly the kind of exciting programming we’ll never get to see at ABT, not under this regime, anyway. What a thrill to think about Lane & Cornejo in this ballet, because even in a restaged version, it’s going to be dynamite. It’s great to know that international opportunities are still available to wonderful Sarah Lane, who is not appreciated by her home company management, but so beloved by her home town audience. Wish I could be there to see this!

Oh WOW, I wish I could see it. If this was ever a statement that Cornejo wants Lane as his regular partner this is it.
Check out Sarah Lane's Facebook page for links to gorgeous promotional pictures of the ballet.

Melponeme_k, THANKS for the link to those gorgeous photos. We've also received it from someone close to the source. This is such great news.

Why do we have to keep asking to see Sarah with Herman in Swan Lake and R&J? This is insane for McKenzie to waste our own talent year after year after year.
By the way, it seems that the Met Opera website has UNpublished ABT's Met casting.
LOL LOL LOL. Too late. Horse out of the barn and running at full speed.

I am thrilled for Sarah to have this opportunity! Doors are open for her elsewhere.

Oh, dear. Haglund has received word that Argentina has cancelled this Spartacus. Hopefully, it will be rescheduled.
