Julio Bocca says that the story that he had been offered the directorship of ABT was false. HOWEVER, he continues with this unsolicited explanation:
"I do not say I do not like to lead the American Ballet, yes I would, but not in the near future."
Hello, the future starts now. Somebody get on this, because it could take a year or more to put together a deal. Let's get it done before ABT has no future.
Nice to know he is interested. I'd like to think the "near future" is within the next 2 weeks, so that leaves anytime after that as fair game. I don't know what it will take to get rid of the current AD (especially given what ABT has become), but I sure hope this quote puts in the bug in the ear of the person or persons that can make Julio Bocca the next AD of ABT.

I'm not sure the Board really wants anyone other than McKenzie. He allows them free reign to get their slipshod favorites or affirmative action recipients to dance on stage. The company has become a showcase for messy pet projects.
I don't think they would enjoy Bocca coming forward and telling them to keep off the stage and stay in the boardroom. And you know Bocca would promptly show the pet projects to the stage door.
