Lincoln Center Out of Doors Festival begins next week. On Saturday (7/23) Dance Theatre of Harlem company & school will perform on the Hearst Plaza (by the reflecting pool) at 2:00pm. Then at 7:30pm Darlene Love will take the stage in Damrosh Park. You just know that sometime during the evening she will belt out the Gene Pitney classic He's A Rebel.
Good luck getting a place to sit at Friday night's free concert by the Mostly Mozart Orchestra in Damrosh Park. They'll be performing Mozart's Jupiter Symphony.

Marcelo Gomes and Nina Ananiashvili are going to have another last fling, this time in Swan Lake and Giselle. Look at this lineup for the All-Star Gala in Tokyo that begins next Saturday. Julio Bocca definitely has gotten his second wind and is leading the charge for a brand new National School of Dance in Montevideo. He's found a 10-story building nearby and has engaged Carlos Ott, the Uruguayan architect who designed the Opera de la Bastille in Paris, to consult with the SODRE architect on the project. Julio's plans for the school's curriculum include classical ballet, contemporary dance, opera, primary & secondary formal education, and housing.
Hopefully his new school will grow an abundance of this. Let the memories live again. 😸😸
There was a minor change and Ferri and Cornejo are going to dance the bedroom pas de deux from Romeo and Julie. But anyway that will be fabulous too.
I live in Tokyo so I am looking forward to see this gala next weekend.

Naomi,
Thanks so much for the update about the program changes. You are in for a treat when they dance the PdD from Romeo and Juliet. I think that's probably a better choice for them than Sinatra Suite. I can't ever recall a time when Ferri danced in heels as she would have had to dance in the Tharp piece.

Sounds like an incredible project! Sadly, this likely this means Julio will not be coming to ABT anytime soon.

Sadly, it does.

Why can't this happen in New York? What a lineup.
