Our own Simone Messmer will debut as Giselle in Miami City Ballet's opening performance on Friday, October 21 at Adrienne Arsht Center for the Performing Arts. Her Albrecht will be her frequent partner, Rainer Krenstetter. Very excited to see some photos/footage of this. Evelyn Hart, herself a magical Giselle at Royal Winnipeg Ballet, has been coaching the casts in Miami.

Herman Cornejo and Alessandra Ferri have added some excerpts from Ashton's Rhapsody to the Friday, November 4th program of the Vail Dance Festival - New York Remix at City Center. The first night Herman will dance Apollo. Tickets to the three-night event are not selling as hotly as the producers probably hoped. There are unfortunately a few unappealing aspects to it cast-wise which may be keeping sales slow. The three programs are designed along the lines of Fall for Dance but tickets are not exactly $15. Maybe they'll show up on TDF later.

Our own Sterling Baca got rave reviews for his opening night performance as Prince Charming to the beautiful Oksana Maslova's Cinderella at Pennsylvania Ballet. We look forward to trotting down to Philly on Saturday to see him in his second performance – oh, and Charles Askegard as one of the Stepsisters.
The casting is one of the main reasons why I won't buy a ticket to the Vail festival.
Congrats to Sterling Baca he deserved bigger roles and I'm glad he moved to where he could get them.

Baca was fantastic last Thursday. Better than many of the current ABT principals. Handled the tricky partnering lifts perfectly. ABT screwed up by letting him go.

Good to hear and not surprised to hear it. I look forward to seeing him and the rest of PAB tomorrow.
