Six long years ago, Haglund started sounding the reveille about the culture shed that would be built among the structures of the new Hudson Yards universe in the nabe here on the West Side of Manhattan. Since then we've been following its rise from fifty feet below the ground to the top of its wheeled Conestoga wagon frame that rolls on and off a huge public performance and gathering space.
18th Century meets the 21st Century:
The Shed opens tonight, AND YOU CAN BE THERE FOR THE CHRISTENING PERFORMANCE VIA INTERNET LIVE STREAM. At 8:00 PM, the festivities and performance will be available on The Shed's website and at both its Instagram page and its Facebook page:

We're not necessarily endorsing the program entitled Soundtrack of America, because we suspect it will probably include offensive lyrics, tribal politicking, and so forth. So we're totally prepared to turn off the sound, ignore all the verbal messaging, and just watch the surroundings. It will still be worth it.
Sunday we'll be at The Shed for the Reich Richter Pärt performance which is actually "two immersive live performances—one conceived by composer Steve Reich and painter Gerhard Richter, the other by Richter and composer Arvo Pärt— that explore the shared sensory language of visual art and music." We are totally psyched to get inside the wagon once and for all!
As if all this wasn't exciting enough, look what else is coming to the 'hood:
It's going to be on W 45th Street off 10th Ave right across the railroad tracks from Carlos' Flat Fixed - the only garage we trust with our dear Gisellemobile. LaDuca is shooting for an opening date of May 1st. From the looks inside, it seems all they gotta do is load the shoes on the shelves.
So, when you finally make it down to Hudson Yards to see The Shed and do some shopping, you may as well climb the Vessel public art sculpture-thingy. It's a lot more fun than the Stairmaster and only 256 (sometimes confusing) steps to the top. We've climbed the Vessel at least six times already. Here's a nice pic from the top at sunset last week:
And if all this wasn't exciting enough, good grief be still my heart, look what's in process in the 'hood along 11th Ave:
Meet the new Irish Arts Center!
So, get on over to the HK/HY nabe (that's Hell's Kitchen/Hudson Yards) and see the new New York. The coffee's hot, the art is hot, and by the way, the Art Expo is going on this weekend on Pier 90 @ W. 50th St. The action just doesn't stop around here...
Just wanted to share here - Sarah Lane just posted on her IG that she will be dancing at a benefit for the Christchurch tragedy. The event is in Jersey City at 7:30pm on Apr 17, and tickets are $25. The website for details and ticket link is youareus.us

Looks like the AGMA arbitration found in Catazaro’s favor, but he decided not to return to City Ballet.
