Actually, Haglund recalls a matinee in Minneapolis in the 1980s when Barynshikov put Jolinda Menendez in as Odette and Yoko Ochino as Odile. That was one bizarre performance. But sometimes bizarre things happen on tour; but they shouldn't happen at The Met Opera House in ABT's Spring Season where dancers' standards and competence are supposed to be at their highest.

One of our favorite former ABT soloists, Jared Matthews, who this year has battled his way back to the stage after a serious illness, announced yesterday that he will be leaving Houston Ballet at the end of the season. His exact words were that he "will semi-retire." His next step is to become the Assistant to the Artistic Director of Estonian Ballet. The AD will be Houston Ballet's Linnar Looris, a native Estonian who will replace outgoing AD Thomas Edur. What an interesting turn of events.

Joo Won Ahn’s relationship with Le Corsaire is – shall we say – complicated. Actually that’s not quite accurate. Our relationship with Joo Won Ahn in Le Corsaire is what is complicated. It’s not likely that we’ll ever forget how he dumped our glorious ballerina, Veronika Part, to the floor like a Peterbilt front-end loader dumping rock into a pit and then sprawled on top of her during his debut as Lankendem a few years ago. But we may have to forgive him eventually – perhaps sooner than later.

Lots of brave dancing on display at the opening performance of ABT’s Le Corsaire. It wasn’t on the level of the courageous dancing that we remember from the Noche Latina evenings of a long time ago when the grand old man of the cast, Julio Bocca, came flying out of the back corner of the stage and threw a flying triple tour assemble with the kick of a winning World Cup goal. Argentina didn’t win that year, 2006, but maybe they would have if they’d enlisted Bocca, Corella, Carreno, both Cornejos, Herrera and Reyes. What a time that was, oh lordy...

About 50 documents were added to the Waterbury court case file today -- from NYCB, SAB, and lawyers for Finlay, Ramasar and Catazaro. Among them were texts between the plaintiff and Chase Finlay which occurred long before her sudden discovery of the photos and texts on his computer that suggest she was sharing daring pictures of herself with him and requesting that he send daring pictures back to her. One of the texts shows that she knew long before her sudden discovery on his computer that he was sharing daring photos with his friends.
Also of interest was correspondence from SAB's attorney to the plaintiff's attorney accusing him of "Indeed, it would appear that, in signing and filing the Amended Complaint, you knowingly failed to comply with your ethical obligations under Rule 3.1 of the Rules of Professional Conduct as well as your obligations under 22 NYCRR § 130-1. l .a(b )." and warning "If you have a basis for making these allegations consistent with your obligations as an officer of the court, we invite you to share it with us immediately. Otherwise, we may have no alternative but to seek an award of sanctions (including reasonable attorney's fees) against you, your firm, and your client."
The other juicy exhibits were (1) the plaintiff's SAB Student Profile Report from June 2016 which was nearly all redacted but showed her Status as Not Returning and (2) her interview with the Guardian in which she said that she first met Finlay at the 2016 Fall SAB Gala which was three months after she left the school. Her lawyer wrote in all of the various complaints that she met Finlay while she was a student at SAB.
The new stuff goes from 83 through 132 at this link.
